Via Crucis Rappresentata
Stations of the Cross, Via Crucis, refers to the depiction of the final hours (or Passion) of Jesus, and the devotion commemorating the Passion. The town gathered and followed Jesus on a pilgrimage of prayer, through the chief scenes of Christ's sufferings and death.
The use of real people in the crucifixion scene is so unusual. It must have been very moving. I posted something on my blog about Good Friday in Taormina. Nobody does Easter like the Sicilians!
What an experience this must have been to see the Via Crucis!
